BASIC SKILLS

AGES 6 and UP

Classes are designed for kids over 6 years old and teens.  Basic Skill classes teach the FUNdamentals of ice skating and provides a solid foundation of skills for skating.  Skaters are progressively introduced to forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, and turns.  Skaters that complete all 6 levels will be confident to advance to more specialized areas of skating.  All classes are taught in a positive, FUN, and social environment.  Skaters progress at their own rate and should be secure in all skills before moving to the next level.

HELMETS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  Skaters should wear gloves and layers of warm clothing which are easy to move in.

Take a look at the progression of skills taught in Basic Skills in the curriculum sheet below.   Don't hesitate to ask your instructor your questions after class.  We are here to help and want to make your time at our rink a great experience for your family.

ADULT BASIC SKILLS

Classes are designed for beginner to more experienced adults who wish to improve their skating skills.  Participating in the program will help promote physical fitness and improve balance and coordination while teaching proper skating techniques.  Whether you simply want to know how to skate around the rink unassisted or choose to pursue a competitive route, this is a great place to start!

HELMETS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  Skaters should wear gloves and layers of warm clothing which are easy to move in.

  • Helmets are required for tots and highly recommended for Basic Skill and Adult introductory classes.
  •  Dress warm (including GLOVES)
  •  Wear thin socks that come up to the calf or tights
  •  Skates should be snug, giving toes a little wiggle room
